Hardly seems that so much time has passed since I started this journey. Its been three years since I submitted my first book and I’ve recently signed my 7th contract. I giggle every time I say that because it’s so much fun…and because when I started I never thought I’d get one…much less seven.
The time, however, has come for me to think beyond the houses I’ve published with. I love them, the experiences I have with them are solid and I wouldn’t drop them if anyone offered me a million dollars. But I want more. I want to say I’ve reached this step on my five-year plan. So I’ve begun working on a new project that hopefully will take me to the big time…New York or London.
My social network of fellow authors – who know I love them and if not – well I do! Have done an excellent job of pushing, prodding, and whipping my carcass into gear. They’ve stoked the fires, and patted the ego just enough to get me brave enough to submit to this New York publisher…I can only hope that all of our hard work and their dedicated poking will pay off!
For me this means the next phase within my five-year plan…which is look at the seven-year mark. Is it as easy as that…by no means do I think for a moment that my luck will hold forever, nor do I think this is an easy step. Its hard, both emotionally, creatively, and word count wise since I don’t usually write anything below 60,000 words. Keep your fingers crossed…I may need the luck!
Happy Reading and Writing.
